Authorities in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia's neighbouring Papua province have decided to work together in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS.
PNG has one of the world's highest rates of HIV/AIDS and Papua has one of the highest cases in the Asian region.
PNG's national Aids Council says the number of people crossing the common border is increasing and with it the spread of the deadly virus.
Romanus Pakure says the two governments have decided to take action.
"We've started communicating with them and having some level of discussions with our counterpart on the other side. That was never the case where groups like this, committees from the other side talk with us to talk on something that we can move together in as far as our border is concerned in dealing with HIV and AIDS."
