Fiji's new representative at UN will deal with political issues first

One of Fiji's prominent diplomats says there are important political issues to deal with when he arrives in New York.

Berenado Vunibobo is the military-appointed Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.

He has already said Fiji must look elsewhere for help to ease its medical shortages because its traditional neighbours won't help.

But Mr Vunibobo says that's not his first priority.

"I am not going to leave everything and go for that because I think there are important political issues that we have to deal with, and that would be the priority which i have to deal with. Guided very much by whatever Government wants me to do."
