Pacific MP's forge relationships with their New Zealand counterparts

The Coordinator of the Pacific Parliamentary Assembly on Population and Develpment or PPAPD Tangata Vainerere says the partnership with New Zealand Parliamentarians is important to tackle critical population and development issues in the Pacific.

The partnership which will also include other key organisations such as New Zealand Family Planning will address issues such as HIV/Aids, pregnancy, poverty and sustainable development.

Mr Vainerere says it's vital that MP's work together because they are the decision makers and can make a difference.

"When it comes to policy you must understand that they decide what is policy and what is not, we actually educate the parliamentarians to understand the issues so they can actually do advocacy work themselves."
