The Solomon Islands Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua has told the Forum's Foreign Ministers Standing Committee meeting to the Regional Assistance Mission on a Japanese offer to assist RAMSI.

Addressing the meeting in Honiara this morning, Dr Sikua says his government acknowledges the important and genuine gesture from Japan which is one of its important bilateral and development partners.

He says since RAMSI is a regional undertaking, the government would appreciate further clarifications on this offer, as well as the views of other Forum members on the matter.

Dr Sikua says the country also has bilateral channels to consider such an offer.
