American Samoa's governor blames recording artists for distorting languae

American Samoa's Governor, Togiola Tulafono, has blamed Samoan musicians for distorting the Samoan language and changing some words in the Samoan vocabulary.

In a call to the governor's radio programme, a member of the public

said children are using words which are close to but not the right Samoan word.

The governor said that Samoan language and culture is now one of the core subjects in schools from elementary to high school.

He blamed modern Samoan recording artists for using incorrect and new words which are not in the Samoan vocabulary
