Guam gears up for Regional Island Fair

Guam is gearing up to host the annual Guam Micronesia regional island fair next month, as the deadline for this year's artists and vendors taking part has now closed.

Ruder Integrated Marketing Strategies, whose organising the event says they are expecting over 20,000 people to attend.

The islands of Saipan, Rota, Tinian, Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Palau, Guam and the Marshall Islands will be represented.

Event Coordinator Sally Malay says this year's theme is 'Celebrating our Seafaring Traditions'.

"The Guam Micronesia Islands fair is hosted by the Guam Visitors Bureau. This will be the 21st year. And its an event where Guam invites all of the islands of Micronesia to come and showcase their cultural handicrafts and dance performances - that type of thing."

The event, also featuring the Koko half marathon race and relay, takes place on October 17 -19th.
