A court in French Polynesia has ruled in favour of eight ministers who demanded three months' pay after resigning on the eve of a successful no confidence motion.
French Polynesian radio reports that the court has confirmed that they are each entitled to just under 23'000 US dollars as put down in the rules for resigning ministers.
The new government refused to disburse the money because the eight ministers had only been in office for just over a month when they stepped down.
The resigned in April when the coalition government of Gaston Flosse was at risk of being ousted because two members had defected to the To Tatou Aia coalition of Gaston Tong Sang.
The court has instructed the government to pay up.
