Preparations all in place for American Samoa election

In one week, about 17,000 voters in American Samoa will be electing a Governor and Lt. Governor for the next four years, and a delegate to Congress and members of the American Samoa House of Representatives to serve two year terms.

Yesterday, the Election Office released the list of polling places for the 2008 general elections on November 4th.

There are 44 polling places on Tutuila, Manu'a and Aunuu islands. Most are church halls or residences of pastors, government buiuldings like the Fono guesthouse and the Convention Center, or guesthouses of ranking chiefs or matais.

Voting booths open from 6am to 6pm and all preliminary results shoule be known before 10 o'clock on election night.
