A senior judge in Samoa has entered a not guilty plea to one count of assault when he appeared in the district court this week.

The complaint was lodged by his wife who took the matter to police last year.

The case has been adjourned for a hearing but the presiding judge, Tauiliili Harry Schuster, has granted a name suppression order for the defendant.

The judge is represented by a prominent local lawyer, Ruby Drake.
