American Samoan Senator upset at marina agreement

An American Samoan Senator, Lualemaga Faoa, says he is saddened that the administration has chosen to a sign a lease agreement for prime government property without allowing the Legislature to review the lease.

Lualemaga was commenting on the lease for the Malalo marina signed between the government and a local company formed to develop the marina.

Lualemaga says the marina is a valuable asset and he would have preferred that the government invited proposals from all interested parties instead of negotiating with one company.

He says he is disappointed to hear that the lease is under ten years and will not need Fono approval.
