A 6.4-magnitude quake struck Indonesia's Papua province yesterday.

The Jakarta Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said the quake struck just before four in the afternoon with an epicentre 127km northwest of the town of Manokwari.

It was measured at a depth of 12km.

A spokesman for the agency said no damage or injuries have been reported.

But he said the tremors, which lasted less than a minute, were strong enough to cause people to panic and run out of their homes.
