Request in Solomons for a house for each former Prime Minister

10:14 am on 17 August 2009

The Solomon Islands government is being asked to approve further entitlements to M-Ps and former M-Ps.

Government officials confirm that another proposal has been submitted to government to consider giving a house to each former Prime Minister of the country dating back to independence.

But our correspondent in Honiara was unable to get details from the Prime Minister's office.

The proposal follows the motion passed in parliament a few weeks ago asking parliament to approve 6-thousand-US dollars be given to wives of Members of Parliament.

The Sikua government has now the enormous task of keeping its

28-member coalition together and winning others to get its bills

through parliament before national elections in 2010.
