Ferry service mooted between CNMI and Guam

There are suggestions a ferry service should be established between the Northern Marianas and Guam.

The idea, put forward by Rota Senator Paul Manglona, comes as Guam prepares for an influx of US marines, and would be helped by the federal government's establishment of permanent U.S. Customs and Border Patrol personnel on Rota and Tinian.

The senator says tying the economies through a reliable ferry service could be mutually beneficial to both territories.

Senator Manglona has put the idea to the Northern Marianas Congressional Delegate Gregorio Kilili Sablan.

He says a feasibility study would be needed before the idea could be put before the U.S. Congress.
