Tonga course to train youth as human rights advocates

1:50 pm on 16 March 2010

Tonga's Women and Children Crisis Centre is to run an 11-month programme to train young people as human rights advocates.

It's launching its Inspiring Young Emerging Leaders Programme from next month and hopes to attract interest from women aged 16 to 30.

The programme will aim to encourage, prepare, and challenge young people from diverse backgrounds to be advocates for human rights.

It will have a special focus on women and children's rights, environmental and social change, but with an overriding goal will be promoting the elimination of violence against women and children.
