A member of the Regional House of Representatives in Papua in Indonesia has come out in support of a plan to create Central Papua as a new and additional province.
The deputy chairman of a House Commission, Eni Khairini, has told the Jakarta Post that as long as the plan meets the wishes of the local people and meets the requirements as set out in the existing ruling, there will no problem.
Mr Khairini says the committee is in charge of giving consideration to any draft bill on regional division.
He has urged local figures in Central Papua to commit themselves to struggle for the establishment of the new province.
