In what could be a first in the Cook Islands, politicians are being invited to share their thoughts on various issues with the public.

A spokesperson for the recently reformed, Group for Political Change, Lynsay Francis, says the issues up for discussion on Wednesday night are centred on political reform.

She says her group want change and thought it was a good idea to give the public a chance to find out more about proposals:

"Most of the meetings that are held are mainly held, I mean they're not open, they are political party meetings for their members to come along and vote for their candidates and so we are just trying something new and saying look let us all hear."

Lynsay Francis says it is important for the politicians to hear the views of the people
