The StarKist Samoa cannery in American Samoa will shut down for three days this week.
StarKist Company spokesperson, Mary Sestric, says the cannery will close for a system transition, and also for the September 29th holiday in recognition of the one-year anniversary of the tsunami.
Governor Togiola Tulafono has declared September 29th a holiday in the territory.
He has proclaimed it as a day of remembrance of the lives lost and the lives that changed forever as a result of last year's devastating earthquake and tsunami.
32 people in the Territory were killed in the disaster.
The plant will resume production on October the 1st, which is the same day the next 50 cent minimum wage increase goes into effect for all workers in American Samoa.
