After a year of CNMI federalization, still no worker, investor regulations

The first year anniversary of the federal takeover of CNMI immigration has come and gone with no federal regulations governing foreign investors and foreign workers in the Commonwealth.

The governor's press secretary Angel Demapan says Governor Benigno Fitial continues to urge federal officials to promulgate the necessary regulations to ensure that the local government is adequately prepared for its implementation.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security missed its self-imposed deadlines for the issuance of these two regulations: the investor rules in July and worker rules in September.
