An American Samoa company, Forest Incorporated, has been chosen to install ice making machines for Manu'a fishermen to keep their catches fresh.

The Western Pacific Fishery Management Council and Department of Marine and Wildlife in American Samoa have selected local company to make the machines in Ta'u and another in Ofu.

Another project for Manu'a is the construction of fuel storage to enable fishermen to take extra fuel for their fishing boats.

Eric Kingma of the Fishery Management Council says a fuel tank manufacturer in the US mainland will make custom, transportable fuel tanks.

The tanks will be shipped to American Samoa when completed.

Mr Kingma says the Council plans to contract Manu'a builders to construct storage sheds for the fuel tanks and ice makers near the Ofu and Ta'u harbors.
