Planned Solomons exhumations fail

12:36 pm on 15 August 2011

The three planned exhumations carried out by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Solomon Islands have been unsuccessful.

Officials involved in the ceremonies to exhume the remains confirm that the bodies were not found where they were reported to be.

Although the relatives of the dead are reportedly not happy with the unsuccessful attempts, the officials say they have not given up yet.

The three cases relate to the ethnic tension of a decade ago on the Guadalcanal Plains.
