More than 100 school teachers in Vanuatu haven't been paid so far this year.

The minister of education, Marcelino Pepite, says these teachers hadn't been included in the ministry budget for this year.

He says the government is fully aware of their situation and a supplementary budget of two and a quarter million US dollars will be tabled in an extra-ordinary session of parliament scheduled for Friday.

He says there will also be allowances for three quarters of a million US dollars to cover the school fees in Tafea province after cyclones earlier this year, and just over one million dollars to cover the shortfall in allowances for scholarship students.

These budget adjustments should have been voted on last week but the government boycotted the session.
