The legal counsel for the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation says there are no immediate plans yet to replace its executive director Utu Abe Malae.

A report by Deborah Fisher to the US District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands, states that part of the reason is because Mr Malae's intent to run for governor of American Samoa next year is a new development.

The report also reveals that he remains the corporation's executive director for months to come.

The CUC legal counsel, Deborah Fisher, says over the next six months, Mr Malae plans to continue to build a solid leadership component at CUC, not only for the sake of continuity but also to provide flexibility for any future replacement.

Ms Fisher says the Coporation understands his plan to leave is of paramount importance, and it intends to discuss its plan with the US Environmental Protection Agency as they are formulated.
