The Fiji rugby team's training in Porirua, north of Wellington, yesterday has been described as brutal.

With players all pressing for a place in the starting 15 to take on South Africa this Saturday in Wellington tackles "flew in strong and hard" according to the daily diary posted on the Fiji union website.

Fiji manager Pio Tikoisuva told the players at the team meeting last evening."If that's what you can do to your friends just imagine what you'll do to the opposition."

There was a heavy South African media presence at the training session.

Porirua locals and school children were also at the ground supporting the Flying Fijians

Nicky Little got a happy surprise after training when about one hundred or so school children sang happy birthday to celebrate him turning 35 years old.
