Call for suspension of Papua police chief following shooting

There's a call for the suspension of the regional and local police chiefs in Indonesia's Papua following the shooting death of a worker at the Freeport mine.

Police are reported to have killed Petrus Ayamiseba during a protest on Monday that's part of an almost month-long strike at the Grasberg gold and copper mine.

The Jakarta Post reports the head of the Papuan Community Alliance Against Corruption saying both police leaders are responsible for the shooting.

Dorus Wakum told a demonstration outside police headquarters in Jakarta that Papuans are also demanding the resignation of several senior Freeport staff.
