Sport: PNG court to rule on rugby league AGM

11:23 am on 24 November 2011

The National Court in Papua New Guinea is expected to rule on Thursday on whether the PNG Rugby Football League's Annual General Meeting, scheduled for this Saturday in Lae, should go ahead.

A group of 19 clubs from the Highlands Region dispute the legitimacy of the meeting, which was called by the interim chairman John Numapo.

Clubs say they were not given enough time to register and that Mr Numapo has gone beyond his interim powers in increasing the affiliate fees paid by clubs.
