Tonga's National Olympic Committee Secretary General says little has changed in its bid for the 2019 Pacific Games from it unsuccessful attempt to host the 2015 Games.
Tonga, knocked back in the final vote with Papua New Guinea winning out for the 2015 Games, and Tahiti have bid for the 16th edition of the Games with the Pacific Games Council to make its decision in mid October.
Tonga NOC Secretary General, Takitoa Taumoepeau says the big difference in its current bid is the backing of the government.
In regard to costs of putting on the Games, Taumoepeau says the bulk of the funding is expected to come from aid donors and other supportive countries.
"You have to look from a political side of things, some of these nations, especially China, would like to increase its interest in the Pacific. Its a huge economy and I'm sure even though we are a small island country we also have a say in some of the important issues of the world. So I'm very optimistic in on that side"
