Sport: Samoa U20s to arrive at Junior Rugby World Champs well prepared

Samoa's under 20 rugby team fly out for Junior World Championship in South Africa on Wednesday, fresh from a week-long training camp in Sydney.

The tournament marks a return to elite competition for the Polynesian country after winning the second-tier Junior World Rugby Trophy last year.

Samoa open the tournament against New Zealand in Stellenbosch on Tuesday, and head coach John Schuster says their time in Australia has been ideal preparation.

"We arrived on Thursday and had a game against the Australian Under 20s here on Friday so we've identified a few areas we need to focus on since that game and we're working hard on getting them right. The time here in Sydney has been good for us in terms of acclimatising because it's very similar in temperatures to where we're heading, so it's been nice to get a few days here of similar conditions."

Samoa also face Fiji and Wales in pool play.
