French Polynesia's opposition has hit back at the ruling pro-independence party, accusing it of re-writing history in its attack of pro-French politicians.
The Tahoeraa Huiraatira rejects blame for the territory now being in survival mode, saying after all Oscar Temaru has been in power in five of the past eight years.
This comes after Tavini Huiraatira took heart from a speech in Senegal by the French President Francois Hollande, who spoke of a new relationship with France's former colonies in Africa.
