The Fiji met service says a tropical cyclone near Samoa and American Samoa will become a category two storm by this morning.

It is predicted to reach a category three level on Wednesday morning.

A forecast path for the cyclone shows it is likely to miss Samoa, however American Samoa could be affected .

New Zealand's High Commissioner to Samoa, Nick Hurley, says people living in the low-lying areas battered by Cyclone Evan a month ago have started moving to higher ground.
