Australia's Department of Immigration says it has flown 20 single adult male asylum seekers to Nauru from Christmas Island.
It is the first transfer of people to the Australian run offshore detention camp in several months.
The group, of mostly Pakistanis and Afghans, joins the more than 400 men already on the island.
Processing of their claims for refugee status have just got underway and come after months of protests by the inmates.
