Fiji officers to self-monitor for Ebola

Fiji's Ministry of Health says peacekeepers returning from Liberia will monitor themselves for signs of Ebola for three weeks when they come home at the end of the month.

The FBC reports the Defence Ministry, Police Force and the Health Ministry are working together to make all the necessary preparations to prevent any possibility of Ebola coming to Fiji.

The Director for Communicable Diseases in Fiji, Dr. Mike Kama, says the 27 officers will not be quarantined when they arrive back in Nadi.

Dr Karma says protocols are in place to prevent the spread of the disease and the peacekeepers' medical unit is an active member of the multi-agency technical advisory group.
