The tourism sector in Solomon Islands could be in for a boost if the new government's policy statement matches the words of the country's new leader.
The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reported that prime minister, Manasseh Sogavare has indicated in a talk back show on Sunday that his government will focus more on tourism.
The SIBC reported the prime minister as saying Solomon Islands has put too much emphasis on unsustainable logging and mining practices in the past and he would like to see more investment in the hospitality industry.
Mr Sogavare is expected to announce his cabinet line-up shortly after failing to do so last week due to strong competition for key portfolios.
