Australia's government has announced that it will cut over US$3 billion from its foreign aid budget, in addition to cuts made earlier this year.

The federal government's mid-year economic and fiscal outlook says the cuts will be made over three years, comprising $822 million next year, $1.1 billion in 2016, and $1.13 billion in 2017.

This comes on top of the $7.4 billion cut from budgeted foreign aid spending outlined in May's federal budget.
