Thousands of French Polynesians marched against violence at the weekend, just days after a man was beaten to death on Bora Bora.

The marchers, many dressed in white, had been brought together in Papeete and other towns by the family of the murdered man, Sandy Ellacott.

Mr Ellacott was attacked and beaten by two drunk men, one of who has beeen charged with murder and the other with aggravated violence.

Mr Ellacott's 13 year old daughter, Tevaitini, moved all the territory by evoking the memory of her father on social networks and in the media.
