Papua New Guinea is planning to discuss bringing in Cuban doctors to work in PNG in November.
The Post Courier quotes Prime Minister Peter O'Neill as saying the country must have an open policy to bring in expertise and skills from around the world.
He said expanding universal healthcare is a core policy of his government, and it has increased the number of young doctors and nurses coming through the system, and he is talking with its partners overseas for more assistance.
Mr O'Neill said as well as the possibility of bringing in Cuban doctors his government has been speaking with China's Health Department which has shared its experience in dealing with malaria in Africa.
