Dr Matagi-Tofiga said the recent vandalism at Leone High School and Leone Midkiff Elementary was a blatant disrespect for property and the community.

She said damage, which cost more than $US10,000 dollars to repair, was done and electronic equipment was stolen from both schools.

She was urging village mayors and elders to assist the department in securing school premises, by imposing village curfews.

She said American Samoa was a community that foster village pride, and schools as assets within these communities should be protected.
