Man arrested in CNMI over bomb joke

The Department of Public Safety in the Northern Marianas says it arrested a tourist leaving Saipan on Sunday after he joked that he had a bomb.

The 48 year old, Changchun Ai, was detained at the Saipan Airport screening area after he allegedly said he possibly had a bomb.

The man was searched thoroughly and no bomb was found.

He told the Transportation Security Authority agents he had been joking.

The man has been charged with disturbing the peace and making a terrorist threat.
