In an interview with the Fiji Times, Dr Sethi said that he did not resign for personal reasons, as was claimed by the authority, but was instead forced to sign a pre-written resignation letter.

He said the authority's board then took his official mobile, car and laptop within minutes, before giving him air tickets to return to India.

Dr Sethi said he was rushed out to prevent him from retrieving evidence from his laptop which he claims shows interference from a senior minister in the authority's activities. Dr Sethi says he was not given any reason for the move, other than a directive had come "from the top."

However one board member, Nesbitt Hazelman, said the allegations are incorrect and mischievous, and Dr Sethi resigned of his own accord.
