The Defence Force has named new army and navy chiefs.
Brigadier Peter Kelly has been appointed as the next Chief of Army. He has been promoted to major general and takes up his role on 10 September.
Brigadier Kelly has been acting Chief of Army since late July, when Major General Dave Gawn left the position to be Head of Mission and Chief of Staff to the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation.
Commodore John Martin has been appointed as the next Chief of Navy, starting on 30 November, and will be promoted to Rear Admiral.
At present he leads capability development for the New Zealand Defence Force as Assistant Chief Capability.
