A man and his eight-year-old son have been rescued from the sea off Bucklands Beach in Auckland after a wave tipped them out of their kayak.
The police say the pair, who had been out fishing, could not get back into the kayak and were drifting in the water for about 20 minutes.
A witness reported seeing them calling for help.
The police say a local boatie was on the scene quickly and got them back to shore, cold but unhurt.
