Spain chases soccer clubs for taxes

Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy of Spain has ordered the Treasury to chase soccer clubs to pay their taxes.

"Those gentlemen are going to pay and the Treasury has instructions from me about it," Mr Rajoy said on COPE radio.

Clubs in the top two Spanish football leagues owed 675 million euros in tax in April, according to the latest government figures.

AAP reports the government signed an agreement with the football league at the end of last season for these debts to be gradually repaid.
