Chevron Australia has made another discovery of liquefied natural gas off Western Australia - its 20th in the past 2½ years, with a well 280km north of Exmouth.

Chevron Australia said it had experienced drilling success for LNG in the Exmouth Plateau area in the Carnarvon Basin.

The well, which is about 280km north of Exmouth, was drilled in 1168 metres of water to a total depth of 3065 metres.
