Swiss bank UBS returned to profit in the first three months of the year, after incurring big losses at the end of 2012, related to the Libor scandal.

The bank said in a statement net profits for January to March were 988 million Swiss francs (£678 million).

The BBC reports that was down about 5% compared with the same period a year ago.

UBS lost 1.9 billion Swiss francs in the last quarter of 2012, and 2.2 billion Swiss francs for the year as a whole. That included a fine of 1.4 billion Swiss francs related to the Libor scandal.
