The market high-flyer, Xero, has formed a strategic alliance in Britain with one of the world's four largest accounting firms, KPMG.

Under the deal, KPMG will launch a new division from May to provide services to small to medium-sized businesses using Xero's software and cloud computing.

The British chairman of KPMG, Simon Collins, says Xero is an impressive software platform.

He sats it will support his firm's delivery of services to a part of the market where technology is increasingly transforming the way people do business.

Xero's managing director and founder, Rod Drury, says the link-up will mean immediate growth in customers in Britain.
