Some faulty Lexuses need to be recalled

About 200 Lexus vehicles made by Toyota will be recalled in New Zealand to have an engine fault fixed.

Long-term testing in Japan has found that a manufacturing flaw in some engine valve springs could cause abnormal engine noise or unstable idling.

Toyota says that about a quarter of a million cars sold worldwide could have the fault.

Lexus New Zealand says the springs in V8 and GS450 hybrid vehicles will be replaced in the next few months, to remove the possibility of future problems.

Toyota, the world's biggest carmaker, has issued a series of safety recalls since late last year, involving about ten million vehicles.
