Wall St up

Wall Street rose on Friday led by major home builders and firms such as Proctor & Gamble as investors became more confident that a recovery will sustain corporate profits.

The Dow Jones Index was up 36 points to 9820. The Nasdaq Composite was up 6 to 2132.

London rose slightly while the DAX and CAC-40 in Frankfurt and Paris weakened slightly.

The Australian 200 Index was down 21 points at 4693.

The NZX 50 closed on Friday 3 points higher, 0.1%, at 3156 on turnover of $117 million.

At 5.30am on Monday, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 70.87 US cents, 81.67 Australian cents, 43.55 pence, 64.68 yen and 0.4813 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 64.63.

Brent crude Oil was trading at $US70.66 per barrel. Gold was trading at $US1006 per ounce.
