Markets slip on lower forecast for eurozone

Stocks on Wall Street have fallen, taking a lead from European markets which slipped after the OECD lowered its growth forecast for the eurozone.

The Dow Jones Index was down 4 points on Wednesday, to 10,969. The Nasdaq Composite was up 7 points, to 2,436

The FTSE 100 index in London closed down 18 points at 5762.

The NZX50 closed 8 points higher, or 0.2%, to 3276.

At 8am on Thursday, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 70.71 US cents, 76.23 Australiancents, 46.40 pence, 66.02 yen and 0.5299 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 65.80.

Brent crude oil was trading at $US83.98 per barrel and gold was trading at $US1151 per ounce.
