Dorchester Finance investors advised to be wary of offer

The Securities Commission is warning investors in Dorchester Finance Ltd to be wary of an offer by the Stock & Share Trading Company to buy their debentures for 5 cents in the dollar.

The Australian-based company previously made similar offers for debentures issued by Strategic Finance and St Laurence Finance.

The commission says investors should be cautious of any unsolicited offer to purchase their investments, especially where the offer is well below face value.

Investors in the parent company, Dorchester Pacific, last month approved a restructuring plan, making it the first finance company to emerge from moratorium.
