Retail sales in Australia slumped in October.
Sales were down 1.1% in October, seasonally adjusted, and September's sales growth was also revised down to an increase of 0.1%.
The ABC reports the fall was the biggest since July 2009.
The biggest fall was in restaurants, cafes and takeaway food (down 4.8%), with clothing footwear and personal accessory sales down 4.6%.
Other retailing was down 2%, while department store sales also slipped 1.1%.
The best rise was in food retailing, which was 0.6% higher, while household good sales were 0.5% higher.
