NZX rises

The benchmark NZX50 index rose 10 points to close at 3293 on turnover of $58 million on Monday.

Fletcher Building fell 5 cents to $7.90, Telecom rose 3 cents to $2.18, and Contact Energy rose 14 cents to $6.21.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 1 cent to $3.13, while Fisher & Paykel Appliances was unchanged at 57 cents.

Auckland Airport fell 2 cents to $2.07.

Pike River Coal is on a share trading halt. It last traded at 88 cents. Its 29% owner, NZ Oil and Gas, lost 1 cent to 89 cents.

Smartpay was up 0.2 cents to 2.9 cents after confirming it will list on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Jasons Travel Media was unchanged at 35 cents after its half year profit slipped 1% to $1.2 million. It expects full year earnings to be the same as last year.

South Port was down 16 cents to $2.60.

Pumpkin Patch fell 5 cents to $1.65, Kathmandu fell 5 cents to $1.62, but The Warehouse was up 8 cents to $3.82

In currency markets, the NZ dollar was at 76.32 US, 77.31 Australian, 48.42 pence, 63.20 yen and 0.5717 euro. The TWI stood at 68.71.
